Bold Birds Pattern and a Pop of Yellow

Yellow, freesia, tropical, and floral-inspired patterns are present in many spring and summer collections. Although yellow is a popular summer color it can be worn in winter as well. Accessories are a great way to incorporate this vibrant color into an outfit.

Street Style: New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter

During NY Fashion Week many people wore their coats wide open despite freezing temperatures. Fashion Blogger Zina Charkoplia matched salmon Zara coat with Celine bag, Nike sneakers, and completed the look with a long grey scarf.

Fashion lovers wore camel, grey, pastel, or even white, or pink coats as opposed to black very characteristic to NYC.
Another distinct trend seen in street style is that destroyed boyfriend denim cuts take over skinny jeans.

Folk style is going global. All around the world fashion houses like Tory Burch, Oscar de la Renta, and Burberry presented collections that were folk inspired and rich in knitting patterns. I am looking forward to seeing more folk inspired clothes in chain stores!

Another noticeable trend on the streets of NY was Chinese plaid pattern, whether on coats, scarfs, or whole suits.

Chriselle Lim rocked Tommy Hilfiger plaid suit.

During Fashion Week, most of the days were very cold, so I wasn't surprised to see at Lincoln Center a parade of colorful furs. To my satisfaction, most fashion lovers chose faux furs.

While some people dressed for the slushy weather, many continued to dress up for fashion shows.

A unique artist Martha Napier promoted her Marnani Design Studio on a hard sidewalk outside Lincoln Center by illustrating street style with paint. In spite of cold wind and frozen paint, her skill to print fashion quickly draw the attention of the press.

New York Fashion Week

Pinup Girl

Floral Prints + Red Bow Velvet Shoes

Sassy Polka Dot + Vintage Accessories

The last stylization reminds me of the Marilyn Monroe image in a polka dot bikini from 1951, or a Minnie Mouse, I can't decide... Dots become functional on some everyday clothing trough 1800s. Yet, the pattern was popularized by the Disney cartoon Minnie Mouse introduced in 1928, and since then never went out of fashion. Even Princess Diana wore a red and white polka dot jacket in 1988.

Not too many people know that the word “polka” itself derives from the Polish language and a popular energetic dance in mid-19th century Europe. Modern polka dots style is playful, feminine, and sophisticated.

Getting the Attention at NYFW!

What makes an outfit impeccable are the confident dresser and a pair of nice shoes. This girl got a lot of attention during New York Fashion Week with a little black dress, platform shoes, oversized bag with a bold print, and a dark red lipstick. I love her edgy style!
