The last stylization reminds me of the Marilyn Monroe image in a polka dot bikini from 1951, or a Minnie Mouse, I can't decide... Dots become functional on some everyday clothing trough 1800s. Yet, the pattern was popularized by the Disney cartoon Minnie Mouse introduced in 1928, and since then never went out of fashion. Even Princess Diana wore a red and white polka dot jacket in 1988.
Not too many people know that the word “polka” itself derives from the Polish language and a popular energetic dance in mid-19th century Europe. Modern polka dots style is playful, feminine, and sophisticated.
